Jacob's work is on the representation of marginalized groups, especially gender and sexual minorities, in Latin American public policy. Jacob's dissertation focuses on understanding the relationship between the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) social movement and institutions in the formulation of LGBT public policies by state and local governments in Brazil. He is particularly interested in the strategies and tactics employed by social movement actors to establish a collective agenda and achieve policy goals. Jacob is currently conducting twelve months of fieldwork in Brazil as a Fulbright-Hays DDRA recipient. Read more at http://www.jacoblongaker.com/.
